Adobe cancellations are infamous for one reason: the early termination fee. The cancel button itself takes five minutes — the expensive part is not knowing your plan terms before you click. Read the “check first” section; it can save you hundreds.
Before you click anything: check three things
- Your plan type. Annual plan, paid monthly = a 12-month commitment with a penalty for leaving early. Month-to-month = no penalty, ever. Annual prepaid = usually no refund after 14 days.
- Your renewal date. Find it at account.adobe.com → Plans. Cancelling right after a renewal is the most expensive moment — it starts a fresh commitment.
- Who bills you. Adobe can only cancel what Adobe sold you. If your statement says Apple, Google Play, or Microsoft, cancel with them — the cancel option will not appear in your Adobe account.
How to cancel at account.adobe.com
- Sign in at account.adobe.com and open Plans.
- Find your plan and click Manage plan, then Cancel plan (often in small text).
- Choose a reason from the dropdown (required to proceed).
- Decline the retention offer — Adobe typically offers 40–60% off for a few months. Genuinely consider it if price is the issue; otherwise click Continue to Cancel.
- Read the termination-fee screen carefully. Adobe shows your exact fee here before you confirm. If it says $0, you are outside the commitment window.
- Confirm. Save the confirmation email.
If the Cancel option is missing entirely, use Adobe’s chat support and ask an agent to process it.
The early termination fee, explained
On annual plans paid monthly, cancelling after the first 14 days triggers a fee of 50% of your remaining contract balance. Example: at $54.99/month with 8 months left, that is 8 × $54.99 × 50% ≈ $220. Three ways to avoid it:
- Cancel within 14 days of subscribing or renewing — full refund, no fee.
- Wait until the 12-month term ends, then cancel before it auto-renews.
- Switch to month-to-month first (costs more per month, but carries no termination fee), then cancel.
What happens after you cancel
Access typically continues until the end of your current billing period. Your files remain in Creative Cloud storage for a limited grace period — download anything important before cancelling.
Quick answers
How is the early termination fee calculated?
50% × (months remaining) × (your monthly rate), on annual-paid-monthly plans cancelled after 14 days.
I am on month-to-month. Is there a fee?
No. Month-to-month plans cancel free — the fee only applies to annual commitments.
I subscribed through the App Store. Why is there no cancel button?
Adobe cannot cancel third-party billing. Cancel in your iPhone Settings → Subscriptions (or the Google Play equivalent) instead.
